This page outlines some of Troop 267's annual events. We welcome all males, 11 to 18 years old, to join us (please check the calendar of events for actual dates, times and locations).

The "Troop Camping" entries list the planned camping events for that month. The "Outing" entries list the planned outing events for that month. If we have a chance to capture the Scouts in Action, we will have links to photo pages. Please note that the photo pages can take a while to load if use a slow connection (e.g., a dial-up modem).

MonthDescription
JanuaryTroop Camping - Winter camping at its best. The Nevada Area Council sponsors Donner Camp (our Scouts have nicknamed it the Freeze-A-Thon). Test your winter skills and compete against other Troops.

Outing - The Harlem Globetrotters will entertain our Scouts and their families.

2007

Another great year for Troop 267 at Donner Camp. This year, the Scouts named it the "Thaw-a-Thon" since there was very little snow. Anyway, the Troop got 1st Place in the Cobble Competition (go Doug); 1st Place in the Sled Race (go Flaming Arrow); and 3rd Place Over-All. (Sorry, no photos.)

2006

Troop 267 did a great job in the Donner Camp competitions this year. They won first in the sled races, second over all, and third in the Dutch oven cook-off. (Your webmaster was unable to make this trip, so I have to see if anyone took photos.)

2005

Mother Nature was up to her old tricks this year. A sever winter storm moved through the area and pretty well flooded the Lawson Landing (at Dillon Beach) campground (dumped about 10' of snow on us). Sad to say, the Troop had to cancel this trip.

The Nevada Area Council changed the Freeze-a-Thon to the last week of January. (It doesn't appear that anyone brought a camera.)

2004

Due to a quark in the calendar, the Donner Camp "Freeze-A-Thon" occurred at the end of January, so the Troop did not go to Lawson Landing as they had in the past. Click here to go to the trip photo page.

2003

Click here to go to the Donner Camp (a.k.a., "Freeze-A-Thon") trip photo page.

FebruaryTroop Camping - Time to head to the beach - Half Moon Bay to be exact.

Outings - None planned (it's a short month with Ski-Skate week vacation)

2007

Took us a little time to figure out how to get to the Francis Beach campground at Half Moon Bay SB. But we made it and got set up. Saturday was beautiful for a short, 10 mile hike (and what a big golf ball Paul has). However, once we got back to camp, somebody must have tripped over the wind switch! And it didn't stop... We have two slide shows to share, one from Saturday and the other from Sunday. (These are Windows Media Player files - WMV.)

2006

Your webmaster was unable to attend this trip to Stampede. But I heard that it was a great trip. Scouts built snow caves to sleep in! I'll see if anyone has any photos.

2005

The Troop plans to go to Death Valley NP. Click here to go to the trip photo page.

2004

The annual Lawson's Landing trip to Dillon Beach. Click here to go to the trip photo page.

2003

Due to a major propane gas leak in late January, the Troop was unable to get into their storage shed. All of the necessary "Freeze-a-Thon" gear is in the storage shed. Oh well, next year...

MarchTroop Camping - Off for some kayaking adventures near Brannan Island in Suisun Slough.

Outing - None in 2007

2007

Camping at Brannan Island SRA and kayaking in Suisun Slough. It doesn't get much better than this. About 6 miles of kayaking. We even ran into another Boy Scout Troop that camps frequently at Brannan Island. Click here to go to the trip photo page (not yet ready).

2006

What a trip. The Troop drove down to Samuel P. Taylor SP and spent Friday night there. It had been rainy most of the day, but we were able to get set up before it started to rain again. Saturday morning we packed up and headed for Point Reyes NS and hiked to the Wildcat campgrounds. A great hike with spectacular views of the ocean. Click here to go to the photo page - not ready yet and click here to see the trail map and elevation profile (from campsite back to the trailhead).

2005

Unfortunately, there was not enough interested Scouts/Parents to go on a Gray Lodge Wildlife Area campout; the trip was canceled.

2004

The Troop went to Moaning Caverns Cave. Click here to go to the trip photo page.

2003

The Troop went to Moaning Caverns Cave. Click here to go to the trip photo page.

AprilTroop Camping - A week long trip to the north coast.

Outing - None planned

2007

Base camp is at Patrick's Point SP. However, we made side trips to the Trees of Mystery (to see Paul and Babe), Oregon Caves National Monument and a 20 mile hike along the coast, starting at Skunk Cabbage Creek. We have several slide shows from this trip (Windows Media Player). Click on one of these links: Show 1; Show 2; Show 3; Show 4; Show 5.

2006

A great trip to Fort Churchill State Historic Park. The Fort was built in 1860 and the "ruins" have been stabilized (otherwise they would all be dust by now). The group campsite we had was fabulous! There have been better days fishing, but one small catfish did hook up to check out our Scouts. Click here to go to the trip photo page (not yet ready).

2005

A combination of potentially bad weather and the lack of being able to make reservations at this time of year kept the Troop from going to Bryce Canyon. Instead, a short backpacking campout was planned for Cache Creek. Sorry, your webmaster didn't take the camera since "extra weight" is an issue on a backpacking trip...

2004

The original plan called for going to The Presidio at San Francisco. But due to some "forces of nature", we were not able to get reservations. So we elected to go to Death Valley NP instead. Click here to go to the trip photo page.

2003

The Troop went to Zion National Park. Click here to go to the trip photo page. There are a total of four photo pages - look for a link at the bottom of each page to get to the next one.

May

Court of Honor - Twice each year, the Troop holds a Court of Honor to recognize Scouts as they advance along the Scouting Trail.

Troop Camping -  Planned a trip to Yosemite NP.

Outing - None in 2007

2007

Very sad to say so, but we had to cancel the trip to Yosemite NP this year. Due to an unforeseen conflict, the Troop didn't have the right adult leadership for this trip.

2006

The Senior Scouts decided on a "day trip" for the annual planning session. The Maass' were kind enough to allow us the use of their house in Sparks. So we all got away, got our camping plans set for the year and had a great BBQ.

We also have some photos from the bi-annual Court of Honor. Click here to go to the photo page - not ready yet.

2005

The original plan was to go to Jackson Meadows for the Senior Scout planning trip. However, there is still snow on the ground at Jackson Meadows, so the Troop is going to Frenchman's Lake instead. Click here to go to the trip photo page.

We also have some photos from the bi-annual Court of Honor. Click here to go to the photo page - not ready yet.

2004

The Troop's Burney Falls State Park trip went off without a hitch. Except your web-photographer couldn't make the trip. However, somebody took a camera and we have photos. Click here to go to the trip photo page.

2003

This was not a good month for a camping trip. Due to the weather, the Lower Lola Montez location was changed to Fort Churchill. Then, due to the lack of parent participation, the trip was canceled!

JuneMeeting Location Change - Classes end during the month. When school is out, the Troop usually meets at the Regional Park.

Troop Camping - Two events this month: first is a close-by campout at Jackson Meadows (for our new Scouts); second is a Senior Patrol whitewater rafting trip.

Outing - None in 2007

2007

Each spring, the Troop looks forward to a group of Webelos Cub Scouts bridging into the Troop. We take these new Scouts on a local camping trip so everyone can get to know each other and the new Scouts can learn how our Troop camps.

Whitewater rafting on the Middle Fork of the American River; way cool! The Troop's Senior Scouts went with an outfitter (All-Outdoors) and had a blast. We put in at Oxbow Reservoir and rafted all the to Greenwood Bridge. Some Class III rapids can get your heart pounding!

2006

The plan was Lassen Volcanic NP, but there was still too much snow for us to get in there and be able to do anything. So we changed gears and went to Moaning Caverns instead for some rappelling and spelunking. We also when to Calaveras Big Trees SP for a quick tour. (It was a good move since it was so hot.) Click here to go to the trip photo page (not ready yet).

2005

Two events are scheduled this month. First an easy camping trip to Stampede Reservoir. This trip gives the new Scouts a chance to "learn the ropes" before they go to Summer Camp. Click here to go to the trip photo page.

Then after school is out, a longer trip to Yellowstone National Park. Click here to go to the trip photo page - not ready yet.

2004

The Troop went to Yosemite National Park. Click here to go to the trip photo page.

2003

The Troop went to Leavitt Meadows. Click here to go to the trip photo page.

July

Summer Camp - The second week of the month, Camp Fleishmann is our destination for numerous Scouting activities. We have an entire web page devoted to Camp Fleischmann.

Troop Camping - There is often a second trip planned during the month (but not always).

Outing - None planned

2007

Summer Camp at Camp Fleischmann. It even rained on us this year (it was great - it helped keep the dust down).

2006

Summer Camp at Camp Fleischmann. Click here to go to the trip photo page (not ready yet).

2005

Summer Camp at Camp Fleischmann. Click here to go to the trip photo page.

Several of our Scouts joined other Nevada Area Scout to go to the BSA National Jamboree (the BSA website has been removed, but here is some information about it). Click here to go to the trip photo page - not ready yet.

2004

During the first weekend of the month, the Senior Scouts (age 14 or above) are planning a trip to Jackson Meadows. This will be the annual "plan the year's events" campout. (No photos taken - I hear this is a top secret event.)

Summer Camp at Camp Fleischmann. (It doesn't look like anyone got any pictures that we can share.)

2003

Unfortunately, the Senior Scout canoe trip was canceled in 2003...

Summer Camp at Camp Fleischmann. Click here to go to the trip photo page.

AugustTroop Camping - Fifty-Miler.

Outing - Troop's Annual Family BBQ

2007

The Troop tried something different this year. Instead of a Fifty-Mile backpacking trip, we did a Fifty-Mile kayaking trip on Lake Tahoe. 8 days on Lake Tahoe - what a beautiful place. And in one week, we saw 3 fires! One caused us to postpone our trip for a day. But we paddled a total of 53.3 miles from Carnelian Bay to Taylor Creek (just south of Emerald Bay) and back. You can view the GPS track we made. Click here to go to the trip photo page (not ready yet).

A special thank you to the Zissimos family for transporting our Troop trailer between campsites while we were out on the water.

2006

The Fifty-Mile hike didn't happen this year. However, several hikers did take a long weekend and backpacked through Perazzo Meadows to White Rock Lake; up to the top of Mt. Lola (9,143 feet) and down to Independence Lake and out at Sagehen. Click here to go to the trip photo page (not ready yet).

2005

The 50-Miler was a great success. However, caring a camera is a luxury that nobody can afford.

2004

There was nothing planned for this month.

2003

The Troop goes to the Veterans Memorial Park (in Monterey). Click here to go to the trip photo page.

September

The Troop calendar runs from September through August. After the Troop's planning day, information starting in September will be updated.

Troop Camping - Down to the Bay Area for some camping at Samuel P. Taylor SP and then a ball game with the SF Giants!

Outing - Go Giants!

2007

TBD

2006

Great trip! Stayed at Beals Point SP Campground (part of Folsom Lake State Recreation Area). Over 20 miles biking on the American River Bike Trail on Saturday and some kayaking on Folsom Lake on Sunday. A good time had by all. Click here to go to the trip photo page (not ready yet).

2005

The Troop decided to have a backpacking trip to Desolation Wilderness, but due to the calendar, it happened the 1st weekend of October. (But we'll put it here anyway!) Yours truly didn't take a camera on this one either, but the GPS was there. Check out the trek and the profile.

2004

The Troop decided in that September was not the best month to plan a camping trip.

2003

The camping trip had to be canceled since the Scoutmaster and none of the Assistant Scoutmasters could attend.

October

Court of Honor - Every 6 months (or so), the Troop holds a Court of Honor to recognize Scouts as they advance along the Scouting Trail.

Troop Camping - The Troop will be off to Mono Lake. There are numerous camping options in the area (and as of this writing, we haven't made firm plans yet.)

Outing - TBD

2007

TBD

2006

TBD

2005

A great fishing trip at Clear Lake SP. Click here to go to the trip photo page - not ready yet. (Looking for photos...)

2004

Due to scheduling conflicts, the Troop decided to go to Burney Falls State Park again. Click here to go to the photo page.

2003

We get to Fallen Leaf Lake campground in South Lake Tahoe and it was full, so we had to find someplace else to camp. Campground By The Lake had space. Click here to go to the photo page.

Click here to go to the Court of Honor photo page.

2002

The Troop goes to Jackson Meadows. (And your webmaster makes his first camping adventure with the Trop.) Click here to go to the photo page.

November & DecemberChristmas Tree Cutting & Lot Setup - During the early part of November, the Troop will go out to cut, haul and store trees for the Tree Lot. At the end of the month, the Troop will set up the lot at the Mountain Hardware and Sport's parking lot.

Christmas Tree Sales - Buy a Christmas tree and support the Troop. This is the Troop's only fund-raising event each year. Scouts do almost all the work, from cutting trees, hauling them to Truckee, setting up the sales/storage area (adjacent to Mountain Hardware & Sport - a big thanks to them for giving up part of their parking during the busiest time of year), selling the trees and cleanup. (Okay, so the parents help out some...)

Troop Camping - (None due to Tree Lot)

Outing - None Planned due to Thanksgiving and Christmas Holidays

2006

Tree Lot - TBD.

2005

Tree Lot - We have a few pictures. Click here for the photo page - not ready yet.

We also have some photos from the bi-annual Court of Honor. Click here to go to the photo page - not ready yet.

2004

Tree Lot - This year the Troop went to the Plumas National Forest and found many great trees for the lot. Check the route to get there.

2003

Tree Lot - For a look at our newest Tree Rack design and Tree Lot setup, click here. To see the Job Assignments, click here. To review the setup documentation, click here.

2002

Tree Lot - Being new to this webmaster job, I didn't think to bring a camera (nor did I have a clue what I was doing on the Tree Lot - but everyone helped out and I quickly learned the ropes.)

We also have some photos from the bi-annual Court of Honor. This one was held at the Glenshire Clubhouse. Click here to go to the photo page - not ready yet.
