Were is the first place to check out in Death Valley? The Sand Dunes of course. (Almost makes you think you're at the ocean.)
| Okay, lets go. If you look very closely, the bottom line of hills in the background are the Sand Dunes.
|
Getting there is half the fun. And can you believe that it looks like it might rain on us. (Did we miss a turn? I thought were were going to Death Valley.)
| The "Big Hill" in the background is or destination. Top of the Dunes. It's about a mile from the car to the top of that hill.
|
So after hiking a while, a leisurely sight-seeing trip to Scotty's Castle is in order. And since it's raining, being inside is a good plan.
| Okay, so we try to get back to camp only to find out that the road we were just on has been washed out. Gee, it's only a 2 hour detour. But check out the clouds as we come back into the valley.

An amazing thing about Death Valley in "the rainy season" are all the wildflowers that pop up all over the place.
| Here's a colorful one.
